New Orleans ranked top U.S. city for creative types

Forget New York or Los Angeles. Working artists should move to New Orleans if they want to see their careers flourish. That's according to a new Smartasset ranking that names New Orleans the top U.S. city for creative professionals, from painters to musicians, choreographers to architects.

The awards honor renovation, restoration and new construction projects completed last year in neighborhoods throughout New Orleans, except the French Quarter.

Solomon Group production company growing again, adds large-scale printing

2.11.15 - The New Orleans production company Solomon Group announced Wednesday that is it expanding its operations to include large-format printing. The firm's new print shop, located in the group's fabrication studio in Elmwood, will add seven employees as a result of the expansion.

2.10.15 - At the Orpheum Theater in New Orleans, the sound of hammers and saws will be replaced by music in a matter of months. A yearlong, $13 million renovation has reached the halfway point, and the venue's anchor tenant - the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra - has announced a Sept. 17 kick-off date for its concert season at the restored theater.
