When Spielberg came to Mobile: Documentary tops this week's movie events

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's 1977 landmark film "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," and fans will have at least two ways to mark it. First, a restored version of the film will be playing at a number of local theaters for the week starting Friday (Sept. 1). In addition, the Chalmette Movies has scheduled a two-night engagement of a documentary focusing on the making of Spielberg's film, which was shot in Mobile, Ala. They top this week's listing of off-the-beaten path events on tap for local film fans.
