NOVAC TO OFFER ITS NEXT FREE FILM TRAINING PROGRAM

NOVAC to host Production Assistant BOOT CAMP August 12 & 13, 0217, free to New Orleans residents, through the support of the City of New Orleans
New Orleans, Louisiana - The New Orleans Video Access Center (NOVAC), along with its partners in the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy, is pleased to announce its next training program: PA BOOT CAMP, a 2-day Production Assistant Boot Camp training session scheduled for August 12-13, 2017, held at Operation Spark in the CBD.
PA BOOT CAMP is an intensive workshop designed to prepare 30 Orleans Parish residents for entry-level jobs in the film industry. Interested participants are encouraged to apply by July 28, and selections will be made via application review and follow up interview. There is no cost to apply or attend PA Boot Camp, thanks to support from the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy.
PA BOOT CAMP teaches participants the basics of life on a film set, with lessons and activities on topics including production vocabulary, roles and hierarchies, walkie-talkie usage, preparing production documents and call sheets, and more. Seasoned industry professionals from Quixote Studios’ PA Boot Camp are brought in for the training from Los Angeles. NOVAC’s presentation of PA BOOT CAMP is a competitive program with limited enrollment. Interested candidates can find an application on NOVAC’s website at novacvideo.org. To apply, candidates should complete the application available at www.novacvideo.org/pabootcamp (or send the information via mail to NOVAC, 532 Louisa Street, New Orleans, LA 70117) by FRIDAY, JULY 28 at 5pm. Upon receipt of your application and resume, NOVAC will email you to schedule a 10-minute phone interview. Late or incomplete applications will not receive a phone interview. You must be a resident of Orleans Parish to apply.
“With the new legislative approval of our tax incentive program, we predict more productions coming to New Orleans in the upcoming year, and want to make sure New Orleanians are prepared to take those creative and economic opportunities,” says NOVAC Executive Director Darcy McKinnon. “We are thrilled to see more productions returning to the New Orleans area, and happy to support programs that secure more jobs for local residents,” says Entertainment Industry Development Manager Carroll Morton, from the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Economy.
